How do I update a Media Download on my website with a newer version of the file?

How to update a downloadable file with a new version.
(i.e. banquet menus, schedules, scores, registration forms, applications, etc)

Step 1:
Log into your website admin dashboard.

Step 2:
Click the "Modules" tab in the left sidebar.

Step 3:
Click the "Media Downloads" link from the drop-down options.

Step 4:
Click on the name of the file that you want to modify.

Step 5:
Change the "Name" to reflect the new version. You can include the date the file was updated, or completely rename the download.

Step 6:
Update the "File Type" if needed. Choose Adobe Acrobat if you have a PDF file. Choose Microsoft Excel if you have an .xls or .xlsx spreadsheet. Choose Microsoft Word if you have a .doc or .docx. Word file.

Step 7:
Click the "Upload" link to upload a the new version of the file from you computer to the website. Once you have uploaded the new file, you can click the "Download" link to double check that you have uploaded the correct file. Whatever is downloaded to your computer when you click the "Download" link is what you visitors will see when they are on your website.

Step 8:
Click the blue "Save" button to finish.

Step 9:
Your website has been updated with the new version of the Media Download. So now whenever someone visits your website and clicks the corresponding link to download a file, they will see the new version.


This tutorial explains how to replace an existing Media Download file with a new version.

It does not explain how to add a completely new Media Download to your website. because it is more complicated and requires a partial understanding of HTML coding.
